The girls love going across the street to the cul-de-sac to play. Several kids live over there, and Bronwen is developing quite the crush on a 6-year old named Aiden. It is so obvious, in fact, that little Lila now says, "Ay-in!" whenever we are about to go outside.

The activity that started it all: Bubbles. Aiden played catch the bubbles with Bronwen one afternoon, and that is when she decided she "loved" him. The sad part is that Aiden would rather play with the other boys, and I hope Bronwen's crush doesn't "crush" her too much. (Aiden is in the background)
And who, you may wonder, was making all those wonderful bubbles?!

Sunday
The kiddos got to spend a little time playing before church this week. If you think it's hard getting two to look at the camera at the same time...
Adam is paying attention, but Bronwen is talking and Lila is in her own world:
Uh oh--Bronwen is messing with something Lila is doing, and she does. not. like. it.
Bronwen does a half-hearted "Cheese" while Adam blows bubbles and looks away.
All three looking, and the toy gets in the way!

Car Conversation
Bronwen: Mom, does your head have a bone in it?
Me: Yes, Bronwen, it's called a skull.
B: A skull?
Me: Yes.
B: What does a skull do?
Me: It is kind of like a helmet inside your head.
B: What is your brain made out of?
Me: Cells.
Bronwen: Oh, cells?
Me: Yes.
Bronwen: How do you breathe?
Me: Well, you take air into your body through your nose or mouth. And when blow it out, you get the air out of your body. That is called breathing.
B: Why do we breathe?
Me: You know how your body needs food and water for energy? Well, it also needs air.
B: What does the blood do?
Me: It carries around the vitamins from our food.
B: Oh.
(Adam screaming from exhaustion, Lila screaming for no discernible reason)
B: Be quiet, I can't hear!
I think there was a little more to it, but those are the highlights.
I also heard her talking in her room this morning. She said something about being in outer space, and then in the cutest little girl voice, she said, "It's a whole new world!"

Beautiful Days
I am so proud of Lila and Bronwen and their bike riding skills. Bronwen was slow going learning how to ride her tricycle, but she has been working hard and is now an expert, especially at going up hills. Lila received her tricycle for Christmas, and she is a natural! In fact, she is fearless and takes off so quickly, we had to leave the handle on the bike to maintain some control over her!

Lila's Party
It was a lovely day for a party. The week before it had been rainy and cold, and I had definite concerns for the outdoor activities I had planned. Then on Friday, everything dried out and miraculously the weather warmed up to a perfect 64 degrees. The first activity on the agenda: lunch. I had a deli tray for the kids and chicken salad for the adults. I made my rolls and had croissants. I also had a vanilla-scented fruit salad, cake balls, cheese and preserve bites, and cake balls.
Many of our guests were from the neighborhood.
We had family there as well!
Lila had plenty to eat.
Even though she didn't seem interested in having her picture taken, I got one with her.
As did T.J.
Then it was time for the egg hunt:
Lila found an egg
Picked it up
and was on the hunt for more!
On to dessert!
I lit the candles,
and Lila blew them out.
Present time!
Lila had a great party--I can't believe she is two!
