Aunt Jan thinks that we, specifically I, involve my child in hard labor on a daily basis. Just because she loves her Swiffer duster and enjoys washing walls, she thinks I am forcing her against her will to participate in chores. Can I help it that she enjoys it?
Actually, the truth is that Bronwen is the task master in the family. Saturday we were outside, and the next thing we knew she was weeding the front beds. She walked over to a weed, plucked it, walked across the sidewalk and put it in the grass. She never went for the flowers. T.J. was amazed and began to help her. Before we knew it, the entire bed was weed free!
Then Sunday, she was scooping dirt from her bucket onto the patio, and I told T.J. he should put sand in it--we periodically sweep sand over the patio to fill in the cracks. So he did--and then he just poured a pile on the brick. Bronwen had a blast playing in the sand, and we all helped sweep it into the patio when we were finished. **Disclaimer: Pardon the "hot pants" she is wearing--I just left the diaper cover from her church dress on; it seemed like it would be nice and cool for the warm afternoon.
Neither of these tasks would have been done this weekend had it not been for our industrious and motivated child. She even figured out how to combine the two!

*shakes her head* Bronwen, you are such a hard worker. I think your mom and dad are so tricky to make you do all of the chores.
Aunt Jan would love to play in the sand with you although I think we would build a castle rather than filling in cracks:)
PLEASE bring your garden tools in November when you visit Bronwen. Mimi would LOVE for you to weed and cultivate her garden too!! As far as the hot pants: Hey, if you've got it show it ;)
